An empty lot in InterBay is being used to store stacks of some kind of construction material. I can't figure out what it is, but I liked the unevenness of the edges where the stacks came together.
I think those are tunnel liners. Sound Transit is boring a light rail tunnel under Capitol Hill. The liners are fitted into place behind the tunnel-boring machine. They form the circular tunnel and the weight of the earth squeezes them together. The seams are waterproofed, the track and wiring are installed, and then clang-clang-clang will go the trolley.
